Vision Plans & Medical Insurance
Our office accepts many common medical insurance plans and company-sponsored vision plans. When scheduling your appointment, please have both your medical insurance and vision plan information available so our staff can help you understand and maximize your benefits.
Vision Plan vs. Medical Insurance: What’s the Difference?
Many patients have both a vision plan and medical insurance. Which plan applies depends on the reason for the visit and the findings from your eye examination.
Vision Plans
Vision plans are generally used for routine wellness eye exams when the main concern is blurred vision that can be corrected with glasses or contact lenses.
Vision plans do not typically cover the diagnosis, treatment, or monitoring of medical eye conditions.
Medical Insurance
Medical insurance is generally used when your visit involves an eye health concern, medical history, or a condition that requires diagnosis, treatment, or monitoring.
Examples include diabetes, thyroid disease, high-risk medications such as Plaquenil, cataracts, glaucoma, retinal conditions, flashes or floaters, red or painful eyes, scratched eyes, eye irritation, reduced vision, or fluctuating vision.
A Note About Co-Pays and Deductibles
Co-pays, deductibles, and plan rules are set by your insurance company, not by our office. Our staff will do our best to help make the insurance process as simple as possible and answer your questions.
