On-Site Eyeglass Lab
At Vision Source – Orland Park, we have an on-site eyeglass laboratory that allows us to craft many prescription lenses right in our office. This gives our patients a level of convenience, quality control, and local service that many optical offices cannot provide.
For many single vision prescriptions, glasses may be completed within 24 hours or less, and some may be ready in as little as one hour. Timing depends on your prescription, frame choice, lens design, lens availability, and insurance requirements.

What Our On-Site Lab Allows Us to Do
Our in-office lab allows us to edge many lenses to fit your selected frame, verify measurements, inspect finished eyewear, and make adjustments more efficiently. Instead of sending every order to an outside lab, many prescriptions can be handled locally by our experienced team.
Faster Service for Many Prescriptions
Same-day or next-day service can be especially helpful when glasses are lost, broken, needed for school, needed for work, or required before travel. While not every prescription can be completed immediately, our on-site lab gives us more flexibility than offices that rely entirely on outside laboratories.
Quality Control Close to Home
Eyeglasses are medical devices as well as eyewear. The prescription, lens material, optical center, frame fit, and final adjustment all affect how well you see. Our on-site process allows our team to check the finished eyewear against the doctor’s prescription and our quality standards before you leave with your glasses.
Lens Options We Commonly Provide
Depending on your prescription and visual needs, we may recommend thin and lightweight lenses, high-index lenses, anti-reflective coatings, photochromic lenses, prescription sunglasses, or other specialty lens designs.
When Outside Labs Are Still Needed
Some prescriptions and lens designs still need to be completed by a specialty laboratory. This may include certain progressive lenses, specialty coatings, complex prescriptions, or orders required by specific vision benefit plans. When that is the case, we will explain the expected timeline clearly.
